Britain had come into existence as follows:

The Treaty of Union and Acts of Union marked the beginning of the United Kingdom's history in the early eighteenth century.

The political merger of the kingdoms of England and Scotland into a new unitary state known as Great Britain in 1707 gave rise to the core of the United Kingdom as a unified state.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was formed with the Act of Union in 1800.

Jacobite uprisings during the early decades were notable, and the Stuart cause was ultimately defeated at the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

The First British Empire grew in 1763 after the Seven Years' War was won.
