No, did is not a linking verb but it is an auxiliary verb and never use as a linking verb in the sentence . It is the simple past tense of the verb do it can works along with an action verb in the sentence.

For Example :

 I did my homework yesterday .

We did everything we could to help.

He did a somersault on the trampoline.
