Prednisone is a short acting synthetic corticosteroid. It is used since 1995 for inflammatory chronic diseases as bronchial asthma, arthritis, nephrotic syndrome and Addison's disease so it is taken in many doses not one dose. It is used in high doses in some types of leukemia.
