Semicolon is used to link two related ideas in a single sentence.

ex: Some students study from BRS books in physiology; others study from kaplan.

- It could used to link between two independent clauses that are connected by conjunctive adverbs.

ex: However they go to wedding party, they are free to wear what they want; as a result, many girls wear dresses.

- It is used to link between things in a list.

ex: You can eat  meat, beef or chicken, both are deicious; or you eat liver or brain.
