You can get wohngeld in Germany if you fulfil the following requirements :

  • You live in Germany with a valid residence permit if you 're a non-European citizen who need to stay in Germany for longer than 90 days.
  • You rent an apartment or a room, or you're the owner of a house or apartment.
  • Your household’s combined earnings  is not enough to pay for a sufficiently large rental apartment.
  • You don't have any other benefit payments such as unemployment benefit or receive BAföG as BAföG already includes a housing allowance.
